Lakehead District School Board Fails Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Students

Human rights complaint against school board

Thunder Bay—After more than a year of efforts to persuade the Lakehead District School Board to properly implement their safe school and anti-harassment policies, a local family and other concerned citizens are asking the public to become aware of the serious problem with systemic bullying and harassment of students on the basis of perceived sexual orientation. After unsuccessful attempts to get the school board and its administrators to acknowledge the problem, a complaint was filed with the Ontario Human Rights Commission. CTEACH, a local community group has been rebuffed in its efforts to offer recommendations to deal with the ongoing systemic problem.

In order to make the public aware of the continuing failure of the school board to implement its existing policies, CTEACH will host a Media Conference at:
